Trip Cancellation
Trip cancellation coverage applies before your scheduled departure. It may reimburse eligible prepaid, non-refundable trip expenses when you must cancel your vacation because of a covered reason listed in the policy.
The exact covered reasons vary by plan, but they commonly include certain unexpected illnesses, injuries, family emergencies, severe weather events, or other situations specifically identified in the policy.
Cancellation Must Be for a Covered Reason
Standard trip cancellation coverage does not allow reimbursement simply because you change your mind, become nervous about traveling, or no longer wish to take the trip. The reason for cancellation must meet the policy's requirements unless you purchased eligible Cancel For Any Reason coverage.
The maximum benefit is generally based on the insured prepaid trip cost you reported when purchasing the policy. Travelers should update their coverage when additional non-refundable trip expenses are added.
